When you access journals from the library search website over a remote connection, you'll get EZproxy-friendly results that will work straight away once you've logged in with your Imperial credentials.
EZproxy is a web proxy server that libraries use to give remote access from outside their computer networks to restricted-access websites that authenticate users by IP address.
How to access library journals remotely using a Bookmarklet
A Bookmarklet is a bookmark stored in a web browser that rewrites the URL of whatever page is currently being viewed into an EZproxy-friendly URL. It then reloads the page using this new URL. After logging in with valid Imperial credentials you will have access to this resource.
How to create a Bookmarklet
Install a Bookmarklet by creating a new bookmark and pasting the following code into the URL destination field:

Here are instructions for adding a Bookmarklet in Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Safari:

1. Open up Internet Explorer and ensure the Favorites bar is visible:

2. If your Favorites bar is not visible, press the 'Alt' key on your keyboard to make the menus visible:

3. Select the menu option View > Toolbars > Favorites bar:

4. Drag the following link Imperial EZproxy URL Updater to the Favorites bar. Click and hold on the link with the cursor:
5. Drag the cursor to the Favorites Bar and release it:
6. Confirm at the prompt that you wish to add this bookmarklet:
7. Bookmarklet now added to the Favorites bar:

Using the bookmarklet
The screenshots below are of Internet Explorer 11, but the procedure is the same on other desktop browsers too.
1. When you try to access a paid-for resource while offsite you'll get a message denying you access, similar to the following:

2. Simply click the bookmarklet in your Favorites Bar to reload the page via the Imperial College EZproxy service:

3. You will be directed to a login page. Enter your regular College credentials and click the Login button:

4. The page will reload and, assuming it's from a journal that Imperial College subscribes to, will now be accessible:

Chrome EZProxy extension
A Chrome extension called EZProxy Redirect can be used to rewrite URLs for articles and make them EZproxy-friendly.

The following screenshots are taken from a Chrome session on a Mac, but the procedure is the same when using Chrome on other systems.
1. Once EZproxy Redirect has been added to Chrome a new button appears in the toolbar:

2. To configure the Imperial College-specific EZproxy settings with this extension, right-click the toolbar icon and select Options from the menu:

4. A message stating Options Saved should appear briefly on the screen. After you've seen this message you can close the options tab:
