Kimberly Budil is the Director of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where she oversees a workforce of more than 8,700 employees and an annual operating budget of $3 billion. Her work focuses on national security through the application of science and technology, and she is responsible for setting the laboratory's strategic direction and managing its research programmes and operations. She engages regularly with senior leadership across the Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration, and other federal agencies, as well as partners in government, academia, and the private sector. She holds a PhD in engineering and applied science from the University of California, Davis, and a BS in physics from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
