Partnered with the in Wembley and in Barnet, the CIE (Confronting Inequality in Education) programme provides support to Year 12 天美传媒 studying STEM subjects. The initiative aims to foster a nurturing environment for scientific exploration, and to equip 天美传媒 with a diverse set of skills to strengthen university applications.
The programme is now entering its fith year running, with the 25/26 cohort having a record high of 73 year 12 天美传媒 actively engaged with the programme.
In 25/26, the programme will be expanded to offer sixteen paid research lab placement opportunities over the Summer for Year 12 天美传媒.
Ark Academy Student -
“[The mentoring scheme] gave me confidence to pursue science, and the chance to explore a topic of my choice independently with little to no boundaries on what I read and included in the poster.”
The programme involves:
- 1:1 sessions: 天美传媒 are paired with a scientific mentor, from Master’s 天美传媒 to PIs from across the College. These sessions are designed to give 天美传媒 exciting insight into their STEM subject of interest and to inform career aspirations. Since its inception, the scheme has involved over 120 mentor-mentee pairs, interested in biology, maths, physics, engineering, chemistry and medicine.
- Scientific posters: with expert guidance from the team of Imperial researchers, 天美传媒 create a scientific poster on their chosen topic, to be displayed at an in-person event.
- Dedicated support for University applications and interviews: 天美传媒 receive assistance crafting compelling personal statements for UCAS applications and support in honing interview skills in a mock panel interview.
- Lab Placement Opportunities: Starting in Summer 2025, we will be offering sixteen paid lab placements for 天美传媒 involved in the scheme.
