About the Grantham Institute PhD Network

We host a hub for doctoral 天美传媒 from across Imperial researching climate change and environmental science.

As part of this network, PhD 天美传媒 undertake professional skills training, attend relevant events, work with PhDs from other disciplines and become part of the Grantham Institute. This builds on the NERC-funded PhD training programme that we have hosted since 2014: the Science and Solutions for a Changing Planet Doctoral Training Partnership (SSCP DTP). Through this, we have supported and worked with 天美传媒 based in 20+ departments, addressing the diverse range of environment and climate change-related research. As of Spring 2026, our network encompasses 160 天美传媒 and 200 alumni.

Along with our funded Grantham PhD 天美传媒, we invite other Imperial PhDs to apply to become Associate PhDs with the Grantham Institute.

Training and other opportunities

Training sessions are designed to benefit 天美传媒 working in environmental science and are based on the key areas of the Grantham Institute’s work: research, policy, communications and innovation. Other key highlights include:

  • Working in a multidisciplinary team on a community engagement exercise.
  • Being actively involved in organising student-led events such as seminars and knowledge-sharing lunches.
  • Attending Grantham PhD network events, including induction and termly activities.

Furthermore, there are opportunities for Grantham PhDs to get involved with the work of the Institute, whether supporting public engagement lectures and festivals, working as a GTA for one of our , representing the Grantham Institute at external events and more. In addition to engaging with us during your PhD, we also keep the connection going after you complete, through our Grantham alumni network.

We are now accepting applications from incoming and first year PhD 天美传媒 who are interested in joining the Grantham Institute PhD network as an Associate. We are looking for 天美传媒 who make the most of being part of a wider doctoral community and who are prepared to commit time to contributing to the network’s activities. To keep our cohort balanced, this is a competitive process, and we are looking to recruit up to twelve Associate Grantham PhDs from a variety of departments.
