What Virtual Credit Cards cover during the freeze
Virtual Credit Cards will cover a defined list of approved essential spend during the freeze. The full list will be published in advance of the freeze.
Confirmed categories include:
- Late scholar visa payments (Faculty of Medicine – ring-fenced amount within monthly limit).
- Customs clearance and urgent import payments (ring-fenced amount).
- Travel bookings via Egencia. A solution using General Ledger codes during the freeze is being agreed with Faculty central teams and will be communicated in advance of the freeze. Egencia itself remains available.
How Virtual Credit Cards work during the freeze
During the freeze, Virtual Credit Cards may use a General Ledger code rather than a Purchase Order number. Whether to use the old or new Chart of Account codes will be confirmed in the guidance published before go live. Normal purchasing processes resume after go live.
