Say it, don’t shame it: An introduction to pronouns, gender identity, and dysphoria

The human urge to name everything means language is powerful. How we employ it can have vast impact, both positive and negative. Within this presentation, Genevieve will discuss the difference between sex, gender, and sexuality and how this influences self-identification. Following this, the history of gender and cultural differences will be explored to exemplify that not everything is just pink and blue. Genevieve will also touch upon the negative impact that misidentification, rejection, and dysphoria can have upon the mental health of individuals who experience it.

This talk will also provide some practical guidance on how to break down workplace barriers with a focus on the importance of person-centred support to embrace those with neurodiversity, mental health challenges, addiction and other disorders
