During the last forty years the study of complex Monge-Amp猫re operators has played an important role in K盲hler geometry. An important question in K盲hler geometry is the problem of existence of uniqueness of special metrics. The existence problem for such metrics is very difficult. I am going to talk about how this problem reduces to study a complex Monge-Amp猫re equation and how Yau changed the mathematical landscape.
