This course is designed for those who have taken Part 1 of our Beginners course or equivalent. If you are unsure whether this course is suitable for you please contact us for advice.
The material covered will build on your studies in Part 1 of the Korean Beginners course and enable you to communicate further in Korean on a number of topics, including talking about yourself, what you do for a living and hobbies, asking for directions and going into shops. As with the part 1 course, the main grammatical areas covered are:
- Korean sentence structure and word order
- Present, past and future tense, regular and irregular verb conjugations
- Particles and quantifiers
- Basic honorific expressions
By the end of the course, you can expect to be able to understand basic oral and written communication as well as feel confident in expressing your thoughts in both written and oral forms using familiar expressions and basic phrases.

Choosing the right course level
This is a continuation of the part one Korean 1 Beginners course taught in term 1 of the academic year starting October 2023. If you have completed that course you can continue on to this course.
If you have not completed our part one Korean 1 Beginners course you might still be able to join this class if you have some experience in the language. However, please contact our Korean Coordinator, Dr Hye Jin Jang, h.jang@imperial.ac.uk, before enrolling so she can help you ascertain that the level of the course is right for you.

Late enrolment
It is possible to enrol on many of our adult education courses after the course has already started. For non-language courses this is subject entirely to agreement by the tutor. For language courses it is subject to agreement by the language coordinator conducting level assessment. If you want to join a course late do bear in mind there might be work you will need to catch up on, particularly in language courses.

Enrolment and payment run through the Imperial College eStore. When enrolling:
- Do check on the drop down menu above called "Course Fees and Rate Categories" to see if you are eligible for a discounted rate and also do make sure you select that rate when enrolling on the eStore
- If you are a first-time eStore user you will need to create an account before enrolling. You can do this by entering an email address and password. This account can then be used for any future enrolments via the eStore.
When you have enrolled you will be sent the following email notifications:
