The goals for the six climbers during the summer were to ascend five classic routes in the , allowing the team to experience large alpine objectives in an overseas alpine arena. The Bugaboo Provincial Park lies within the , an area west of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in southeastern British Columbia. It is alpine in character consisting of a cluster of high granite spires with four main summits: Bugaboo, Snowpatch, Pigeon Spires and the Howser Towers, alongside other minor peaks, and provides moderate mountaineering objectives within a large granite massif form. In addition to funding provided by the Exploration Board this expedition was supported by the .
