IMPERIAL ZERO INDEX METHODOLOGY AND DATA
The IZI 2025 Methodology document (PDF) sets out the technical specification for the IZI assessments, including the 2025 assessment when the methodology was introduced and the more recent IZI 2026 assessment. Used alongside the IZI 2026 data register, the methodology enables the reader to calculate the IZI metrics for any fossil fuel company (FFC).
Imperial Zero Index Metrics
IZI 2025 and 2026 evaluates all FFC’s consistently, applying the same criteria objectively and systematically providing a fair and uniform assessment of each entity’s progress toward achieving net zero objectives. To achieve this, we gather data from each company to analyse the performance on each of the following metrics:
