STRATiGRAD PhD opportunities are funded in partnership with various industry and charity sources.  The programme embodies a “blue-skies” approach to research with an analytical and modelling focus. Projects will be supervised by Professor Zoltan Takats and other Imperial College academics. Each project will have a common training core and where appropriate industrial co-supervisors. The Division of Systems Medicine is exceptionally well-equipped with state-of-the-art analytical dedicated to metabolic analysis for patient journey phenotyping, stratified medicine, molecular epidemiology and real-time diagnostics.


Admission requirements

  • EU National or have permanent leave to remain in the UK
  • Hold, or expect to obtain, a Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline, particularly chemistry, biochemistry, or computational/mathematical sciences
  • A first or upper second class Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline
  • Fulfil all

Funding information

STRATiGRAD awards will cover tuition fees at the Home/EU rates, a tax-free stipend of £17,500 per annum and project consumable costs.
