Biography

Professor Jeanie Cheong is a neonatologist based at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. She is an international leader in the field of long-term outcomes of high-risk infants, esp. those born preterm. She heads the Victorian Infant Collaborative Study, the longest running epidemiological program of research in the world on outcomes following extremely preterm birth. She currently leads several major initiatives, including the Australia National Health and Medical Research Council Extremely Preterm Centre of Research Excellence, the High-Risk Infant Flagship, and the Prematurity Research Group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. In 2010, Jeanie established the LaPrem cohort study of moderate-late preterm infants which has since been funded by the Australian NHMRC for the recruitment, 2- and 9-year follow up.
