Consultant Haematologist and Haemophilia Centre Director, Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, UK MA, MBBS, MRCP, FRCPath, MD

Biography

I am a Consultant in Paediatric Haematology, specialising in Haemostasis and Thrombosis, and the Haemophilia Centre Director at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London which is the largest children's bleeding disorders service in the UK. I also work at the Royal Free Hospital where I have an adolescent and young adult clinic. I work as part of a multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists, Clinical Nurse Specialists and doctors to manage children with inherited and acquired bleeding and thrombotic disorders. We have engaged in more than ten studies for new bleeding disorders treatments within the last ten years, continuing a departmental history of investigational product trials from the early days of recombinant factor VIII and IX.

I completed my medical degree at Oxford and London universities and gained my FRCPath in Haematology before specialising in paediatric thrombosis and haemostasis. My particular interests include management of boys with inhibitors to FVIII and FIX, and rare bleeding disorders.

I am the Secretary of the United Kingdom Haemophilia Centre Doctor’s Organisation and Chair of the Paediatric Working Party.
