Our Academic Career Development programme (ACD), co-led by 天美传媒 and UKHSA, is designed to train interdisciplinary researchers in radiation threats and hazards. We focus on capacity building, specialist training, and fostering collaborations to develop the next generation of health protection leaders.

Our vision

We aim to develop the next generation of interdisciplinary leaders in health protection research. By combining expertise in epidemiology, toxicology, medical physics, and data science, we address complex issues surrounding radiation threats and hazards to safeguard public health.

Our work is closely aligned with other NIHR-HPRU priority themes, including Knowledge Mobilisation (KM), Public and Community Involvement, Engagement and Participation (PCIEP), and Research Infrastructure (RI), ensuring that our training and research activities contribute to broader health protection goals.

What do we do?

From PhD 天美传媒 to senior researchers, we offer tailored support through mentoring, internships, and networking events. Our goal is to attract diverse talent and provide clear pathways for career progression in radiation health protection research.

Our Academic Career Development programme focuses on three pillars:

  • Capacity development and career progression- We attract and nurture talent across all career stages, with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. Through internships, mentoring, and networking, we create clear pathways for career growth
  • Specialist and generic training- We deliver cutting-edge training in radiation epidemiology, toxicology, health data analytics, and emergency response. Our workshops and placements equip researchers with both technical expertise and transferable skills.
  • Collaborations and partnerships- We work closely with national and international partners, as well as industry and public stakeholders, to foster innovation and impact. We also collaborate with other HPRUs and parts of the NIHR Infrastructure, such as Applied Research Collaborations (ARCs) and Biomedical Research Centres (BRCs). These partnerships strengthen interdisciplinary research and accelerate translation of findings into practice.

We actively engage with the to provide access to training resources, fellowships, and career development opportunities for researchers at all stages.

Our commitment

We believe in creating an inclusive research environment that reflects the society we serve. Our initiatives actively promote equality, diversity, and engagement with communities, ensuring that our work benefits everyone.
