The Department of Chemical Engineering is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Jason Hallett as incoming Head of Department. Professor Hallett will succeed Professor Omar Matar from 1 October 2026, bringing extensive experience, leadership and strategic vision to the role.

Professor Hallett said: 

I am delighted to be taking on the role of Head of Department at such an exciting time for Chemical Engineering. Our community combines outstanding research, innovation, and teaching with a strong collaborative spirit, and I look forward to working with colleagues, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ and external partners to build on these strengths in the years ahead.

Professor Hallett takes over from Professor Omar Matar, who will take up the position of Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½.

Professor Matar said:

It has been a privilege to lead this department and work alongside such talented staff and ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½. I move onto a new role within Imperial knowing the Department is in excellent hands, and I look forward to seeing it continue to thrive under new leadership.

Posts will be effective from 1 October 2026.
