Agilent Technologies together with Dr Tim Albrecht from the Department of Chemistry host a programme of lectures and hands-on experience for final year ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½.

(Nanomeasurements Division, Reading) participated in a new 4th Year course "Tools for nanoscale characterization" introduced by Dr. Tim Albrecht, by bringing state -of-the-art scanning probe equipment to the Department.  For a whole day on Thursday, 19th February, Agilent Application Engineer Dr. Fiona Frehill worked together with the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ on their own samples, for example catalyst surfaces or polymer films from final year projects to characterize the surface topography and other properties. This combination of lectures and hands-on experience turned out to be an excellent way of consolidating the taught material and exposing the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ to the latest developments in the area. Given the cost of such equipment, this could only be implemented with such a partnership between academia and industry.
