Prof Crisan was invited to introduce the topic of "Calibration of stochastic parametrizations for geophysical fluid dynamic models". Diffusion or score generative modelling has close links to optimal control and, in a wider sense, to data assimilation. He discussed some of these links and potential implication for diffusion modelling.
