CSEI hosts senior government delegation and industry delegation from Hong Kong

On Friday 1st march 2019 the hosted 30 delegates from Hong Kong as part of their UK study tour, 'Time to change'.

The delegation was led by , Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), and coordinated by , Director of Hong Kong University’s (CICID), and his team. 

The delegation’s mission is to understand methods to elevate industry performance. Their specific areas of interest included  (1) modular construction and DfMA, (2) digital project delivery and BIM, (3) robotics and automation.

Representing ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ were Professor David Gann, Vice President (Innovation), Professor Jennifer Whyte, Director Centre for Systems Engineering and Innovation, Professor Peter Childs, Head of Dyson School of Design Engineering and Professor Yike Guo, Director Data Science Institute.

Professor Jennifer Whyte commented:

"We are pleased to host this high-level delegation of Hong Kong government, university and industry representatives. We have deep collaborative relationships between the Centre for Systems Engineering and Innovation (CSEI) at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ and the Centre for Innovation in Construction and Infrastructure Development (CICID) at Hong Kong University, and are looking forward to future collaboration.

We shared an overview of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ with the delegates and insight into our ongoing research in CSEI and more broadly across the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Dyson School of Design and Data Science Institute on digital twins, offsite manufacturing, robotics and automation we hope to deliver innovate and sustainable solutions. We have many shared interests, rooted in the opportunities and challenges facing the construction industries in both the UK and Hong Kong."
