Li Shen (Tribology group) won the Eureka & Discovery category of a national science photography competition run by the EPSRC.

The winning entry, titled “In a kitchen far, far away…” captures fluid instability patterns on top of a spherical soap bubble in a kitchen sink. created by researchers who receive EPSRC funding.

Li’s prizewinning image was taken from his video “Before the bubble ruptures”, which explores in a visually striking manner how soap bubbles evolve and burst. The video in the American Physical Society's Gallery of Fluid motion competition in 2016.
