Narumi Wong, a student from the Department took part in the Amgen Scholars research program in Kyoto during the summer, winning the top poster prize.

A third-year student from the Department of Chemical Engineering at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ took part in a two-month intensive research project as an in Kyoto University. The scholar programme is a fully-funded  international project, which allows university ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ from all around the world to travel to participating host institutions (in Japan, Europe or the USA) and join a host lab of their choice.

Narumi Wong, one of the top ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ of her cohort at Imperial, joined the Quantum Energy Processes Group (headed by Professor Sagawa) where she conducted research on the fabrication techniques of emerging photovoltaics, specifically convective deposition and how this process can be optimised in the lab-scale and scaled up for industrial production. At the end of the two-month project, she presented her results in a poster symposium in Kyoto, where she was awarded an Outstanding Poster Award.

Narumi previously gained research experience as a participant of the a year earlier, where she joined Dr Roberto Rinaldi’s group and worked on biomass mechanocatalysis. She is currently spending her third year as an exchange scholar in Columbia University in New York, where she has been accepted to join the in the Electrical Engineering Department as an Undergraduate Researcher.
