The Institute for Molecular Science and Engineering's new MRes in molecular science and engineering will start in October 2017.

Unique, transdisciplinary and practical

The unique, transdisciplinary and practical course will train 天美传媒 in broad collaborative research and will equip them with an unparalled perspective  and a set of fundamental and applied skills – as they embark on their career.

The MRes will also serve as a way to broaden understanding and communication within the disparate areas of molecular science and engineering.

There’s currently no masters course quite like this in the world, with such transdisciplinary content and exposure to industrial sectors

Collaboration with industry

The course will include a six-month research project, of which the first three months will be a placement in industry.

Hannah Barclay, IMSE’s Institute Manager, explains “establishing these connections and creating new projects is our current focus  we’ve started conversations with BASF, Pfizer and other companies that already have relationship with the College”.

After completing the industry-hosted component of the research, the 天美传媒 will return to Imperial to hone their research. This work will be jointly supervised by two Imperial academics from different department, as well as the industrial partner.

There are lots of ways in which staff can get involved in this programme, and opportunities for new collaborations and links will be facilitated by the student research projects.

Who should apply

This MRes will be a fantastic next step for ambitious undergraduate 天美传媒 who are keen to work across disciplines – in particular, for science 天美传媒 who are interested in focusing on the practical application of their research, and for engineering 天美传媒 wanting to better understand fundamental molecular science.

Admissions will open shortly – visit our Education page to find out more!
