UN Women's HeForShe initiative visits Imperial
On Thursday 8 October, Imperial welcomed the campaign bus for the UN's HeForShe initiative, as part of the GetFree tour to six universities.
Student volunteers helped UN Women staff to run the stall outside the bus, explaining the initiative to staff and 天美传媒 and offering them a chance to sign up to support HeForShe.
Imperial College Union then hosted a panel discussion for 天美传媒, introduced by Imperial’s Provost Professor James Stirling. Lucinda Sandon-Allum, President of Imperial College Union, and Martin Lupton, Head of the Undergraduate School of Medicine, were also on the panel, alongside Jack Bertram, Partner at McKinsey & Company, and Elizabeth Nyamayaro, Head of the HeForShe Initiative at UN Women.
Introducing the discussion, Professor Stirling said: “Positive change can only be effected with an innovative and inclusive approach involving everyone, and that is why HeForShe is such a powerful message and why Imperial is pleased to be part of it.”
