The Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology is offering two 1+3-year ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½hips funded by MRC Centre for Outbreak Analysis and Modelling. The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ will be based in the, School of Public Health, St Marys Campus, Paddington.

In the first year, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ who have not previously studied for a relevant MSc will be expected to join either the , a 1-year taught course giving a thorough grounding in epidemiological research, or a new 1-year MRes course. Students with existing MSc level qualifications will be expected to undertake the MRes unless they have comparable existing research training. The MRes course is shared with the . At the end of the first year, following satisfactory progress (a merit in either the MSc or MRes), ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ will progress to the 3-year PhD programme. Supervisors for PhDs will be discussed at the candidate selection stage and confirmed after completion of the MSc/MRes. All ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ will belong to the Graduate School which provides a full programme of training in research and transferable skills.

The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½hip will pay UK/EU tuition fees and a stipend of £17,500. The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½hip is available to UK nationals or EU nationals who have lived in the UK for at least three years immediately preceding the date of an award. Applicants should have, or expect to achieve, a first or upper second class degree or UK equivalent in a relevant subject*.
