ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½

Now an annual event, Imperial ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ with disabilities spent the day mixing with careers experts and proactive diversity employers.

The Careers Advisory Service organised a tailored careers day for ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ with disabilities on Thursday 21 November.

The event, organised in collaboration with LSE’s Careers Service, was kindly hosted by Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML) and took place at their St Pauls offices.

 Throughout the day ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ were involved in a range of workshops, talks and Q&A sessions covering subjects such as disclosing disabilities to employers, and adjustments in the workplace.  One of the highlights of the day for the Imperial ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ was the opportunity for a practice interview with recruiters from BAML, who gave useful individual feedback as well as hints and tips.

Some ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ particularly enjoyed the evening networking session where representatives from a number of companies, including Imperial alumni, turned up.  Some of the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ had specifically said that they were keen on certain industries and therefore were introduced to the likes of Google, Bloomberg, Unilever, Shoosmiths, Shell and BP over a glass of wine or fruit juice.  Representing the finance and banking sectors were employers from Goldman Sachs, Nomura, PwC and Ernst & Young who were also particularly popular.

Although a long and tiring day, feedback from both ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ and employers was that they had learnt a lot and thorough enjoyed the event. For the Careers Advisory Service the planning starts for next year's Access to Employment event!
