The most recent Autumn project asked 天美传媒 to design, build and test a miniature motorised car to perform a speed race as well as a torque challenge along a track. The cars were meant to be made as efficiently as possible; build quality, safety, effectiveness, aesthetics and overall design were important aspects of the challenge.
Students were given four wheels, an electric motor, a battery holder and batteries, and they were allowed to purchase a limited range of standard transmission elements. The mini-cars had an on/off switch, and once they were on the track, the teams had no more control over them. The winners of the challenge received a certificate and a small cash prize.
