Non-synchronous vibrations (NSV) in compressors and fans occur at highly-loaded conditions and are driven by unsteady aerodynamics which couple with blade vibration and can potentially result in high response amplitudes. The front stages of modern compressors are susceptible to NSV, because they operate close to the aerodynamic stability limit at part-speed conditions.  This project investigates NSV in a multi-stage compressor rig with a focus on the evolution of pre-stall aerodynamic disturbances with changes in operating point, and the coupling of these with blade vibrations.
