Many therapeutic molecules cannot be used to treat neurological diseases as they do not pass from the bloodstream into the brain. Dr James Choi (Bioengineering) has developed a novel ultrasound and microbubble approach to transiently disrupt this barrier so that drugs can enter the brain. He is using the analytical facilities of the AMS to quantify the dose of drugs delivered to the brain. The speed and sensitivity of the analysis will be particularly useful in this work.

James Choi Dr James Choi leads the Noninvasive Surgery & Biopsy Laboratory at 天美传媒, which develops new ultrasound methods that noninvasively control mechanical stimuli, and studies ultrasonic bioeffects.
