About me

Prior to joining the programme, I worked in advertising agencies for six years in Hong Kong, providing marketing consultations and executing advertising campaigns.

My goal after graduation is to work in social impact and sustainability consulting roles, where I can utilise my expertise in a more impactful sector. I chose to study at Imperial Business School because of its reputation and its comprehensive and up-to-date programmes. For example, I am able to learn more about Artificial Intelligence (AI) in different modules, which may not be available at other schools yet. Let me share insights into the modules I've chosen for this term at Imperial!

My first impressions of Imperial Business School

In terms of the MBA ��ý and alumni I have encountered so far, my first impression was overwhelmingly positive.

The MBA cohort is not only culturally diverse but also incredibly friendly. We bonded closely during the two weeks before the start of the school year, engaging in team-building activities and treating each other as family members.

The support and love from the alumni community are also remarkable. Many alumni return to the business school to share their MBA journey and work experiences, and my mentor went the extra mile to welcome me to Imperial and give me a tour of the campus, which was heart-warming.

The modules I’ve chosen and why

This term, I've enrolled in six modules, including two compulsory ones: Marketing Management and Business Problem Solving. Additionally, I've opted for Design Thinking, Sustainability and Competitive Advantage, Data Analytics and Visualisation for Business, and Managing Negotiations as my elective modules. Let's dive deeper into a couple of these courses to provide a glimpse of my learning experience:

Data Analytics and Visualisation for Business

In this module, Professor Xiaocheng Li provided us an overview of various methods for handling, analysing, and visualising data. We acquired basic knowledge of tools such as Python, SQL, and Tableau. We also explored the application of AI tools in data analysis and gained an understanding of their strengths and limitations. An interesting fact we discovered was that if we ask GPT4 to perform calculations without using Python code, it fails to provide accurate answers. Throughout the programme, we had the opportunity to work on assignments using real-life data, where we tried building predictive models to solve business problems.

Design Thinking: Solving Complex Problems Through a Disruptive Mindset

In this module, we embarked on a 2.5-month journey exploring the design thinking methodology and process with Professor Ileana Stigliani. We began by defining the problem and conducting user research, followed by collecting and clustering inputs to gain key insights. Using these insights, we engaged in an idea generation process to generate numerous ideas, and then selected a few for testing and feedback. At the end of the module, we were required to present our process and final product to a panel consisting of professionals from creative agency. Throughout the journey, we were provided with tools and frameworks to guide us at every step. Our team focused on the challenge of helping ��ý land jobs more effectively, which involved interviewing ��ý, career consultants, and recruiters to understand their pain points. We then developed prototypes to test and refine our ideas, and finally proposing a AI-powered platform that consolidate various tools and platform together as a final product. It was a comprehensive and enriching experience that allowed us to apply design thinking principles in a practical context.

Business Problem Solving

In this module, Dr. Ian Mackenzie provided us with valuable insights into business problem solving and consulting. With his extensive practical experience, he presented us with various real-life business cases, guiding us on how to break down and address complex problems. These cases included topics such as organisational restructuring, innovation transformation, and even effective interview techniques. The sessions were highly interactive with active participation from our cohort, allowing us to learn from one another and gain different perspectives on how to approach the cases. To conclude the module, we will be working in groups to write a proposal based on a case study, applying the knowledge and skills we acquired throughout the sessions.

My favourite memory of the programme so far

While working with my classmates on various school projects and perfecting our group presentations has been a rewarding experience, my best memory as an MBA student thus far is the getaway we had with my cohort in October. We embarked on a hike to Sevens Sisters Cliff, and it was an incredible bonding experience. The hike presented its challenges, but we supported and encouraged each other throughout the journey, allowing us to enjoy the breathtaking views of the cliffs along the way.

My advice to candidates considering applying to Imperial Business School

Be authentic both to yourself and to the admissions panel. Take the time to deeply understand yourself and your long-term career aspirations. This self-reflection will help you craft a compelling narrative that genuinely conveys your story to the admissions panel.

What was your background and prior experience to studying the Full-Time MBA?

Upon graduating with a degree in Mechanical Production Engineering in Brazil, I embarked on a career with Latin America's largest airline company, marking the beginning of my professional journey. Throughout my tenure, I had the opportunity to live abroad for almost 4 years in Chile and garnered invaluable experience in operational and strategic capacities.

The Full-Time MBA was instrumental in accelerating my career, enabling me to navigate this transition successfully. It not only broadened my perspectives but also equipped me with the skills needed for the challenges of a new industry and location. The MBA was worth it for me, as it opened my eyes to diverse opportunities and thoroughly prepared me to seize them.

What did you aim to achieve from the Full-Time MBA at Imperial Business School?

In essence, my MBA aspirations were a blend of professional evolution, cross-cultural enrichment, leadership refinement, and the cultivation of self-assurance.

Industry transition to technology: a primary objective was to pivot my career towards a more technology-centric industry. I aspired to leverage the interdisciplinary knowledge and innovative thinking gained during the Imperial MBA programme to transition into a dynamic and technology-driven position.

Cultural diversity and global perspectives: the diverse and international nature of the Imperial MBA cohort presents an invaluable opportunity to immerse myself into cultures and different perspectives.

Leadership enhancement: the goal was to emerge from the programme equipped with the strategic vision and interpersonal skills needed to lead and inspire teams in my future role.

Boost self- confidence: Strengthening my self-confidence is a personal development goal that was tied to my MBA journey by navigating through the challenges of the programme, engaging in meaningful discussions, and taking on leadership roles. This increased self-confidence will undoubtedly contribute to my professional growth and effectiveness as a leader.

Imperial Business is more than an academic institution; I saw first-hand that it prioritised diversity, inclusivity, and empowerment.

Did you have any hesitations before applying? If so, what is your advice to prospective applicants?

I did not hesitate in applying to my Full-Time MBA at Imperial Business School. I had the opportunity to be at Imperial´s Woman Day celebration prior to my application. The dean and admission centre's warm invitation left me inspired, fostering empowerment and motivation for a new venture.

The inclusive and supportive atmosphere encouraged me to embrace challenges and possibilities, instilling confidence. This encounter revealed Imperial Business School as more than an academic institution; I saw first-hand that it prioritised diversity, inclusivity, and empowerment. Motivated and assured, I applied for the fast-track admission. I applied in one of the last rounds and this made me very nervous, so my advice to myself would be to apply earlier.

Imperial’s MBA played a pivotal role in shaping my business leadership skills. Engaging in practical classes, such as negotiation, equipped me to confront challenges within the classroom, providing valuable preparation for real-world situations.

The decision to pursue my MBA at Imperial Business School was aligned with my professional aspirations and personal preferences.

The prospect of immersing myself in an institution renowned for cutting-edge research, technological advancements, and innovation aligns seamlessly with my ambition to transition into a more technology-driven sector. The academic rigor and technological resources at my disposal undoubtedly provide a unique and enriching learning experience.

3. London: My Favourite City. Another pivotal factor in my decision-making process was the allure of studying in London, a city that holds a special place in my heart. Beyond its vibrant cultural scene and historical significance, London stands as a global hub for business and technology. Choosing Imperial Business School allows me to not only reside in my favourite city but also leverage its dynamic ecosystem for networking, internships, and exposure to global business dynamics.

What was your favourite memory of studying the Full-Time MBA?

A standout memory from my MBA is the business trip to Copenhagen, a remarkable experience witnessing the organised and developed facets of the country. The efficient systems and advanced infrastructure in contrast to my Latin American background were truly eye-opening, offering valuable insights into global business practices. This trip not only provided enriching professional exposure but also served as a unique opportunity to bond with my cohort outside the classroom.

What clubs and societies did you join, outside of the class-room?

I was president of the Latin American Business Club and affiliated to de TMT Club. I was also part of the MBAT team.

How did the Full-Time MBA help your leadership skills?

The MBA played a pivotal role in shaping my business leadership skills. Engaging in practical classes, such as negotiation, equipped me to confront challenges within the classroom, providing valuable preparation for real-world situations. Additionally, leading the Latin Club further contributed to my leadership abilities.

The programme truly lived up to its reputation of focusing on innovation, business, and technology. The Design Thinking class, which immersed us in solving unsolved problems, exemplified this commitment.

Also, the multicultural and professionally diverse environment, helped to shape my ability to approach problems from varied perspectives. This not only enables me to explore diverse solutions but also deepens my understanding of others' mindsets, allowing me to prioritise what is important to them.

How has your career developed since graduating?

After graduating, I achieved a significant career pivot by joining the launching team in a leadership position of DiDi, a Chinese tech company with a vastly different culture, in Colombia—a country where I had never lived before. The Full-Time MBA was instrumental in accelerating my career, enabling me to navigate this transition successfully. It not only broadened my perspectives but also equipped me with the skills needed for the challenges of a new industry and location. The MBA was worth it for me, as it opened my eyes to diverse opportunities and thoroughly prepared me to seize them.

What advice would you give to prospective applicants?

My advice to prospective applicants is to deeply understand why pursuing an MBA is important for their personal and professional growth. However, equally important is recognising how their unique experiences and perspectives will contribute to the cohort. By considering the positive impact they can bring to the collective learning environment, applicants not only shape their admission work but also boost their confidence throughout.

Ever wondered what it’s like to study at one of the world’s leading business schools? Our Full-Time MBA Class of 2026 are undertaking their first month of studying at Imperial Business School. Throughout their Induction Week, we caught up with many of our new ��ý, marking the start of an exciting one-year journey that will both challenge and accelerate their careers.

From launching start-ups to driving innovation and pivoting into new fields, their ambitions are as diverse as they are. This year’s class represents 24 nationalities, bringing diverse cultures and perspectives to the classroom, with 39% of them being women and an average age of 28. They arrive with an average of six years’ professional experience across IT, consulting, finance and energy – bringing rich insights and a shared drive to learn, grow and make an impact.

There are many reasons why our new ��ý chose Imperial Business School and during our interviews with them, several key themes stood out:

The curriculum. Imperial’s Full-Time MBA is designed to develop both core business foundations and industry-specific skills. With over 40 electives and five concentrations to choose from , ��ý can tailor their learning experience and signal to employers their career intentions, whether that be in tech, finance, leadership roles or entrepreneurship.

What has your career journey been before joining the Imperial MBA?

For the last five years, I have worked as a Senior Salesforce Developer and Technical Architect at Deloitte US India, leading complex CRM solutions across healthcare, pharmaceuticals and utility sectors. Most recently, I led the design and implementation of Agentic AI solution, an application that helps patients with appointment management, screening, FAQ resolution and programme enrolment through an intelligent agent chat interface.

Why did you choose the Imperial Business School Full-Time MBA?

Imperial Business School is the ideal place to refine my skills and grow into a holistic leader in technology, strategy, consulting and product management, particularly in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

I have always been passionate about designing and implementing technology solutions - from conceptualising ideas, to designing their architecture, to bringing them to life. My ambition is to build and enhance digital products that truly make a difference to businesses and customers, making their work easier, smarter and more impactful.

I came to realise that technical skills alone aren’t enough. I began to consider broader questions: is my solution scalable? Can it be commercialised? Do I have the capabilities to navigate the complexities of building a successful venture? This reflection highlighted the value of pursuing an MBA. The Business School’s strong emphasis on innovation, its vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem and global network provide the ideal environment for the next stage of my professional journey.

I’m really looking forward to diving into the Imperial community and exploring the networking opportunities that come with being part of such a diverse and ambitious cohort. Learning from peers with different professional and cultural backgrounds is something I value highly, and I see this as one of the most powerful aspects of the Imperial Full-Time MBA.

I’ve already started noting down events and opportunities I would like to attend, and view this as another opportunity to build meaningful connections and stay on top of the latest in innovation.

What is your top advice for future Full-Time MBA applicants?

Planning is key – avoid last-minute submissions, as the process requires time and thoughtful reflection. Ultimately, the MBA application journey doesn’t end when you submit your application; it really begins the moment you engage with the school and start envisioning your next steps.

What research helped you choose the right MBA programme?

I would say that the most valuable piece of research I carried out was to clearly understand the positioning of each business school, both now and in the future. I looked into Imperial’s history and spoke with alumni, which helped me realise Imperial’s key strength: connecting a STEM-driven approach to business - something that is increasingly essential in today’s ever more complex world.

I am confident that, through both the modules available on the Full-Time MBA and its network, Imperial will give me privileged access to the resources needed to address the challenges of an era in which business management will be profoundly reshaped by the hard sciences.

How does the Imperial Full-Time MBA support your career goals?

After five years of working in finance, I needed both to accelerate my career towards a more global path and to adopt a more holistic perspective in preparation for managerial positions. In this respect, Imperial’s international positioning, the global exposure it offers – specifically through its London location and networking opportunities - and its strong emphasis on collaborative leadership projects align perfectly with my career goals.

I am especially looking forward to undertaking modules that go beyond my current field of expertise and will enable me to better grasp the challenges of tomorrow. This is why I am particularly keen to take part in the Strategy and Digital Transformation concentration, as well as the Analytics & Operations concentration, both of which are becoming increasingly critical with the rise of artificial intelligence.

What is your top advice for future Full-Time MBA applicants?

The best advice I can offer to those who are just starting their application journey is to start writing the first draft of your application now. Then wait for a few weeks before going back to it and use that time to gather some more information, contact alumni and refine what you want to say for your professional reflections. This way you can make sure that it’s an impactful application.

What research helped you choose the right MBA programme?

The most valuable piece of research I conducted when comparing MBA programmes was evaluating each school’s curriculum, teaching methods and extracurricular opportunities. Every school is unique in what they offer, and as a jewellery professional aiming to pivot into health tech or senior care, I needed a programme that balanced rigorous business fundamentals with opportunities to explore innovation and entrepreneurship.

What opportunities are you most excited about on the Imperial Full-Time MBA?

I most look forward to opportunities like the Imperial Innovation Challenge where I’ll be able to work directly with Imperial scientists to bridge together business expertise and technology innovations to solve real world business problems.

I also look forward to customising my own MBA journey by selecting electives related to the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Concentration, modules like Entrepreneurial Finance and Venture Capital, and projects like the Entrepreneurial Journey - an opportunity to pitch a business proposal to a panel of venture capitalists.

Equally exciting is the Enterprise Lab - a start-up incubator with dedicated resources, mentorship and even funding to help bring science, technology and other business concepts to life. This level of support is unmatched and significantly boosts start-up success rates, which I’m eager to leverage to jumpstart my own entrepreneurial journey.

What is your top advice for future Full-Time MBA applicants?

Really consider what your short- and long-term goals are after studying an MBA and let that guide you in selecting your ideal school and become your narrative in your application process. Avoid generic reasons and focus on what is personal to you – that will really help you stand out.

What has been your professional journey so far and what stood out about Imperial Business School?

I began my data science career at Meta, working on WhatsApp Business Analytics, before joining Rei do Pitaco, Brazil’s largest daily fantasy sports company. As the first data scientist there, I later became Data Science Manager, leading a team of 12 and driving product growth, pricing and risk initiatives.

I chose Imperial Business School for an MBA that lets me stay close to technical work while broadening my business impact, and for its strong entrepreneurial ecosystem, offering hands-on engagement with startups and innovation.

How does the Full-Time MBA align with your long-term career goals?

The Full-Time MBA curriculum aligns perfectly with my career goals of becoming either a Product Manager or Head of Data Science. Imperial provides the strategic and leadership knowledge I need to excel in those roles, while also offering access to a strong network of startups and scaleups across industries.

I am particularly excited about the Entrepreneurial Journey and Personal Leadership Journey modules, which will help me refine my leadership style and develop an entrepreneurial mindset to tackle large-scale challenges.

How do you plan to engage with the wider Imperial community during your MBA?

I’m particularly excited about the Venture Catalyst Challenge at the Enterprise Lab, as well as the Idea Surgery sessions where entrepreneurs can brainstorm and receive feedback on early business ideas.

I look forward to connecting with professors and ��ý from the Engineering School to exchange perspectives and explore innovative approaches to solving complex problems.

And I’m particularly looking forward to joining the Latin America Business Club and the Sports Business Club, as both will give me opportunities to connect with peers who share my professional interests and regional background.

Beyond career-focused clubs, I’m also very keen on joining the IC Lawn Tennis Club, which will allow me to stay active, meet people outside the Business School, and engage with one of my biggest personal passions.

Why did you choose the Imperial Business School Full-Time MBA?

When researching different business schools there were two things that stood out to me about Imperial Business School:

As someone with a non-STEM background, I was intrigued by the possibility of pursuing a business degree in an environment that places an emphasis on science and innovation.
In parallel to this, the alumni profiles were also an important confirmation that I would find myself in a diverse cohort and that the Full-Time MBA was not just for one type of student - it seemed to fit ��ý with different backgrounds and career goals.

What opportunities are you most excited about on the Imperial Full-Time MBA?

I’m most looking forward to the Global Experience Week and the chance to travel to a different country for a week to learn about the challenges being faced by local businesses and the solutions they are coming up with.

It offers an opportunity to apply what I’ve been learning in the classroom to a real-world setting where the culture and business practices of a foreign country will play a role in assignments. On top of that, it will be a unifying experience for the cohort and a chance to create lifelong memories.

What advice would you give to Full-Time MBA applicants?

My advice would be to really think about what your motivations are for pursuing an MBA and what you want to get out of the experience. If you’re clear on what you want, and find an institution that resonates with that, the application process will be so much easier because you can just be yourself.

From the start, I was determined to study at Imperial Business School, and I’m so happy to have achieved that goal. There are so many reasons why the Full-Time MBA stood out to me, from the entrepreneurship focus to the networking opportunities available, including plenty of events for us to connect with alumni and industry experts.

A particular highlight for me was the high employability statistics surrounding the Full-Time MBA – it sets it apart from other leading institutions around the world. I’ll have access to a dedicated Career Consultant during my studies and am able to interact with industry leaders, which was a huge draw. This will give me amazing guidance and clarity on which direction I want my career to go in.

How does the Full-Time MBA support your career goals?

In the short term, I would like to pivot from sales to consultancy. Imperial Business School has some of the best faculty for consulting and organises many events with their alumni, so I would like to utilise this knowledge and connections to be able to break into this industry.

And in the long term, I would like to take the skills and knowledge gained from the Full-Time MBA to expand my family business back home in India. Joining clubs like the Family Business club and interacting with the Enterprise Lab will give me access to like-minded individuals so that we can learn and grow from each other. And this experience will set me up to help accelerate my family business later down the road.

What advice would you give to Full-Time MBA applicants?

Don’t second guess yourself. The competition is high, however if your application is genuine and passionate, you can’t go wrong. Being yourself is always the strongest application you can make – if you do that, then your passion will shine through.

What has been your professional journey so far and how does the Full-Time MBA support your long-term career goals?

I’ve built my career at Agoda, an online travel agency, progressing from Project & Operations Coordinator to Senior Specialist on the central programme management team. I drive strategy and performance for a key product, collaborating with marketing, product, analytics, and regional teams to launch initiatives that increase hotel conversions.

The Full-Time MBA aligns with my goal of becoming a leader in business development or product management in tech.

I’m especially looking forward to the finance and analytics related modules as they will equip me with the tools to make informed, data-driven decisions in the future. I’m also excited about the Personal Leadership Journey module and being challenged to grow professionally, connect with Career Consultants and actively prepare for future career opportunities.

What research helped you choose the right MBA programme?

During my application, speaking directly with current ��ý and alumni was invaluable. How did you first hear about Imperial Business School and what made us stand out?

I took part in the Clipper Round the World Race – a sailing competition and endurance challenge. And whilst racing across the Atlantic, I met a professor from Imperial. Amongst some of the many conversations we had, one was about a technical business idea I would like to explore and off the back of that, we’ve kept in contact and that’s how Imperial Business School came onto my radar.

Imperial’s world-leading STEM-B university status was a big appeal when I looked into the university further. Doing a Full-Time MBA at Imperial Business School provides me with a unique environment where, on the one hand, I can hone my management skills and on the other hand, can access world leading knowledge and experts so that I can explore my ideas.

How has the Imperial community supported your MBA journey so far?

What do you hope to achieve on the Full-Time MBA?

I am pursuing the Full-Time MBA to acquire new technical and leadership skills and broaden my professional and personal network. Following a 10+ year career in corporate law, I wanted the challenge of expanding my knowledge on business-critical topics and strengthening my analytical, decision-making and management skills. Post-MBA, I intend to leverage these new and enhanced experiences to transition into a role within the ESG strategy and sustainability space.

How do you envision reaching these goals?

Full-Time MBA ��ý are provided with a diverse range of elective modules and concentrations, enabling them to tailor their studies to their academic interests and career goals. I will pursue the ‘ESG and Stakeholder Impact’ concentration to deepen my understanding of ESG and sustainability, directly aligning with my career aspirations.

Additionally, there are sustainability-focused extracurricular opportunities, such as the ‘Energy and Sustainability Club’ and initiatives at the Grantham Institute, offering valuable experiences to support my career development.

Are there specific projects or initiatives you’re eager to tackle with your classmates?

The Strategic Consulting Project is an exciting opportunity for my group this spring. As I pursue a strategy-focused career post-MBA, I look forward to honing my problem-solving skills by tackling real business issues for an actual client.

This experience will expose us to current commercial challenges and allow us to collaboratively develop strategic solutions, leveraging our collective skills to benefit a real client in need.

Why did you choose to study a Full-Time MBA?

My curiosity and desire to learn led me to apply for the Full-Time MBA programme at Imperial Business School. While my professional and academic development in the United States has served me well, I seek to broaden my horizons through postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.

After my MBA, I aim to secure a role in London driving product development for SaaS products that positively impact people's lives. Additionally, I plan to embark on my entrepreneurial journey with the support of the Imperial Enterprise Lab and my network from Imperial.

What projects are you looking forward to tackling on the programme?

I’m particularly excited about the Imperial Innovation Challenge and the Entrepreneurship Journey. These projects allow ��ý to harness their creativity and business intuition by identifying a problem, developing a solution, and marketing it to a viable customer segment.

After creating a business plan, we can pitch it to a panel of judges and investors. These experiences foster essential skills for success in today’s business world, including collaboration, public speaking, strategising, time management and marketing. Hearing alumni rave about these opportunities has only heightened my enthusiasm!

What global experiences are you looking forward to the most, and why?

I eagerly anticipate the Global Experience Week, a highlight of the Full-Time MBA programme. Each student travels to a country that offers unique insights into life, culture and business. This experience provides essential international exposure to unconventional economic systems.

Previous cohorts visited Nairobi, Kenya, known for its early adoption of contactless payment, allowing us to understand the factors behind significant business decisions affecting local economies. I look forward to challenging conventional business methods and learning from this enriching experience.

During our induction, we participated in a Virtual Reality (VR) pilot study on "Values Day," which was an eye-opening experience, showing how concepts like ethics and microaggressions can be explored through VR, making learning engaging and memorable.

Bogosi Shashane

What is your professional background and what industries do you have experience in?

My professional background is within general insurance, focusing primarily on car and home products. In my capacity as a technical pricing specialist, the role typically involves statistical and financial modelling of policyholder data to provide sufficient coverage for customers whilst improving business profitability. Aside from the analytical work, there entails a great deal of stakeholder management.

More recently, I have occupied the position of an consultant in an EdTech company, building upon my strategic thinking and client engagement skills whilst aligning with my passion for education.

What is your motivation for studying a Full-Time MBA?

My justifications for pursuing an MBA are two-fold, specifically to refine my leadership capabilities in an organisational setting and to pivot my career into management consulting.

In particular, my desire is to leverage my existing technical skills across the offerings of this programme, combining them with the core and elective modules to inspire further professional growth in a new environment.

How will the Full-Time MBA help you achieve your career goals?

What’s been the story of your career so far and what industries have you explored along the way?

For the last 6 years I have worked at PAN Group, an empowerment investment company that invests in both early-stage and growth businesses with ambitious purposes looking to make a difference. My most recent role was as Head of Strategy & Operations, where I worked with a portfolio of over 20 businesses to develop strategic business plans and with management teams to operationalise these strategies within the business. I worked with businesses across a wide range of industries including biotech, mental health, aged care, artificial intelligence, deep tech and agriculture. 

What personal growth do you seek during your Full-Time MBA experience?

The Full-Time MBA programme will be a significant opportunity for personal growth. Moving overseas and engaging with a new community will enhance my ability to connect with others, boost my confidence, and challenge my self-belief as I step outside my comfort zone.

Additionally, the diverse backgrounds of my cohort will enrich my experience, allowing me to learn from their international perspectives and understand how their experiences shape their approaches to business challenges.

How have you found the collaboration of business and technology at Imperial and within the classroom?

The collaboration between business and technology at Imperial was a key reason I applied, and it has fully lived up to expectations. There’s a strong integration of science and business, particularly in areas like healthtech, deep tech, and AI, where the cross-disciplinary approach is very evident. For example, initiatives such as Imperial X are exciting, bringing together experts from various fields to tackle complex challenges with AI.

I’ve been excited to get involved with the Enterprise Lab, which has been a fantastic resource for connecting with fellow entrepreneurs through its various events and programmes. The entrepreneurial ecosystem, particularly at Scale Space in White City, offers a dynamic environment where academic research and startups thrive side by side. The access to cutting-edge technology, industry leaders, and a collaborative culture has been inspiring.

What hobbies or interests do you have outside of the classroom?

Outside of my professional and academic life, I’m passionate about entrepreneurship and have been exploring the startup community through events at Imperial’s Enterprise Lab. I’ve joined the IB Careers Entrepreneurship Club, where I’m looking forward to attending events and connecting with like-minded entrepreneurs.

I love classical music and play piano to unwind. London's world-class concert and theatre scene excites me, along with its diverse cafes, food markets and restaurants—I’m passionate about exploring it all.

What are you hoping to achieve on the Full-Time MBA?

The MBA equips me with business skills to complement my technical background and pursue leadership roles, especially in AI and deep tech. I chose Imperial for its London location, aligning with my goal to contribute to the UK technology economy.

I chose the Full-Time MBA to transition from research into entrepreneurship, particularly in tech and innovation. After more than a decade of leading research projects, I wanted to shift toward building something impactful with a focus on growth and innovation. My ultimate goal is to contribute to a high-growth, mission-driven company, whether that means launching my own startup or joining an organisation with a strong commitment to using technology to make a positive impact on society.

What inspired you to pursue Imperial’s Full-Time MBA?

As a Potterhead, I love the quote: "it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live." My decision to pursue a Full-Time MBA stemmed from realising that, while fulfilling, my software development journey was incomplete.

My long-term goals focus on leadership, inclusivity, sustainability, and global engagement. The Imperial Full-Time MBA will empower me to achieve these goals and make a meaningful impact beyond my current domain.

What do you hope to achieve on the Full-Time MBA?

During my Full-Time MBA, I aim to enhance my ability to make confident decisions in ambiguous situations. While my technical background has focused on analytical decision-making, transitioning to strategic roles requires a different skill set. I hope to become more comfortable with uncertainty, make quicker decisions in unclear situations, and trust my instincts. The programme offers ample opportunities—such as competitions and tackling real-world business problems—to test and develop these skills, and I’m excited to embrace the challenge.

How do you think the Full-Time MBA will contribute to your personal growth?

I am hoping to develop my business acumen and global business awareness to compliment the leadership and project management skills that I have developed during my career in Construction Project Management.

I am also looking to make the most of the excellent Careers department at Imperial, as well as the Business School ��ý, to grow my professional network.

What projects are you excited to work on with your classmates during the programme?

I’m most excited about studying the LEADS module with the cohort throughout the year. This is a very introspective leadership experience that is designed to give us the tools to become great people and leaders in the future.

This module challenges and develops us as a group and ends with a cohort reflection and celebration!

What global experience are you looking forward to and why?

I am most looking forward to the Global Experience Week next summer. We have the opportunity to visit one of three brilliant destinations to immerse ourselves in the culture and understand the challenges that businesses and people face in these cities.

I am personally hoping to visit either Nairobi or Sao Paolo during the Global Experience Week, both of these destinations have distinctive problems that I am excited to explore with the rest of the Full-Time MBA cohort.

Admission to Imperial’s Full-Time MBA is competitive, and we understand that the application process can seem daunting. In this article we’ve put together some tips to help you make your application stand out.

You can apply for the Full-Time MBA through our online application system. The form asks you to provide details about yourself, your career, your educational history, and your goals. Filling out this information takes careful consideration as you will want to make sure your application highlights everything that makes you an outstanding candidate.

What should you prepare for your application?

Preparation is key when applying for the Full-Time MBA at Imperial. The application process requires you to complete several sections before you can submit. Key parts of the application that require time and attention to detail include the:

Career planning questions

The career planning questions present an opportunity to show how you think Imperial’s Full-Time MBA will support you in achieving your future career aspirations. You will need to write about the sector you are interested in working in, your ideal employer, role and country. This requires research, reviewing job specifications for potential roles and researching employers that you may want to work for. Giving yourself time to consider your answers and really think about what you want to achieve will show our Admissions Team that you know how a Full-Time MBA will truly benefit you and your career.

Personal statement

Your personal statement is an opportunity to tell us more about yourself, your motivation for undertaking the programme, and how you plan to use your MBA to make a positive impact.

We encourage you to be authentic, and don’t simply write what you think we want to hear. We value diversity and we want to find out what you would contribute to the cohort and the Imperial community.

It’s a good idea to ask a friend or mentor to proofread your statement before you apply. This will help to ensure that you are presenting your skills and strengths in the best way possible.

Finessing your CV

Uploading your CV is a crucial part of your application. It is important to keep it simple and use a clear format. You should use your CV to highlight professional and academic experience, extracurricular activities, and international experience. You should try to keep your CV to one side of A4, and definitely no more than two.

One of the things we are looking for is evidence of career progression, so make sure you highlight any promotions or increases in level of responsibility.

It’s a good idea to focus on your impact and achievements in each role, rather than simply listing responsibilities.

Last month, our Full-Time MBA cohort took part in the highly anticipated Imperial Innovation Challenge.

This intensive week-long project focuses on deep tech acceleration, offering ��ý a chance to exercise innovation in a practical learning environment. The Innovation Challenge helps ��ý deepen their understanding of the business-technology relationship and is a core component of our Full-Time MBA curriculum.

Working in groups, ��ý had the opportunity to collaborate with faculty members from across Imperial, including professors from engineering and medicine. Working with promising technologies still under development, they were challenged to apply their business knowledge to help drive these projects toward commercial application.

At the end of the week, each team took part in a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style pitch, presenting their business proposals to a panel of judges, with the winning team receiving a prize.

This year, two teams emerged as winners and we recently caught up with George Dear and Bogosi Shashane, whose team developed an innovative sepsis test kit, as well as Sophie Anzarouth, whose team worked on a technology for skin cancer detection.

What deep technology did you work on during the Imperial Innovation Challenge?

Sophie: In my team, our project leveraged cutting-edge advancements in laser technology and artificial intelligence to revolutionise skin cancer detection. We utilised an Alexandrite-based laser system, which enabled precise and non-invasive tissue analysis. And the AI platform analysed the results to deliver accurate preliminary diagnoses up to 110 times faster than traditional methods.

These innovations combined to create a powerful tool that not only improved diagnostic speed and accuracy but also addressed critical healthcare challenges by easing the burden on dermatologists and enhancing patient outcomes.

George: Myself and Bogosi were in a team together; we worked on a rapid and portable sepsis test kit that leverages advanced nanotechnology. Sepsis is one of the leading causes of global deaths, and the key issue is that the current method of diagnosis takes 6 days, which is far too long

This is a groundbreaking application for the technology that will dramatically shorten the time taken to diagnose sepsis infections, leading to reduced mortality rate from sepsis.

How was your experience collaborating with Imperial scientists?

Bogosi: Collaboration has been fundamental to our project's success. Our team brought together expertise from Imperial London’s Department of Chemistry and Faculty of Medicine.

This interdisciplinary approach has helped us understand both the technical challenges and clinical needs of the project, leading to a more robust and practical solution. Within the space of the week, we felt empowered by this wealth of knowledge to enable us to present our solution.

What challenges did you face and overcome during the challenge?

Sophie: One of the biggest challenges my team faced was overcoming the barrier of technology readiness. The goal was not to invent a new technology but to develop completely innovative applications by leveraging existing advancements. This required us to carefully assess the maturity of each component and identify the necessary steps to bring the solution to life—such as building a prototype, conducting tests, and iterating until it’s ready for medical trials.

George: For me, understanding the technology well enough to confidently pitch the product and field questions from the Venture Capitalists was certainly the biggest challenge. None of the team had a science background so this aspect of the challenge was quite daunting!

Bogosi: I’d also add that a challenge was developing a solution that could meet multiple crucial requirements simultaneously, including speed, cost-effectiveness, high sensitivity and specificity, multiplexed detection capabilities and minimal sample processing.

Sophie: We tackled these challenges by fully embracing the deep tech framework and trusting the process. This framework provided a structured template to navigate this uncertainty, helping us break down complex ideas into manageable parts, allowing us to focus on each component.

George: The engagement of the Imperial science team was essential for the success of our Innovation Challenge. They have been developing this sepsis diagnosis product for some time, and they were very supportive in explaining the technology and application to us. We had a meeting with them before the challenge commenced to provide us with some context around the product and the tech that underpins it.

Bogosi: Also leveraging our combined expertise across multiple disciplines was vital in carrying out a detailed analysis of the technology and navigating the array of uncertainties. For instance, we found that the interaction between technical and non-technical backgrounds in our team worked well when ideating and producing a pitch.

What was your highlight from the Imperial Innovation Challenge?

Sophie: The biggest highlight of the week was the incredible teamwork experience. Working alongside such talented teammates, I encountered a dynamic unlike any I’ve experienced before — serene, trusting, and calm. We approached each step of the process without feeling overwhelmed, fully embracing the framework and trusting each other’s abilities.

Bogosi: This entire experience posed an immense learning curve, one which gave us the chance to lean on one another’s comprehension to achieve the final objective.

George: It is always amazing to see how members of the cohort draw on their expertise developed during their careers in these types of projects. This really highlights the diversity of the cohort and demonstrates how this diversity leads to unique and creative ideas.

How did the pitch go at the end of the week?

George: I am glad to say that the pitch went well. Over the course of the week our team had really bought in to the potential of the sepsis diagnosis product – having looked at the impact that sepsis has, it was clear that the product could save millions of lives in the future. This made the pitch an exciting prospect as we wanted to share our enthusiasm and belief in the potential of the product.

Sophie: One of our teammates, who excels in public speaking, took the lead in delivering the presentation. We focused on crafting a pitch that was easy to follow, particularly by translating complex technical terminology into layman’s terms—a crucial step in ensuring that the panel could fully grasp our project proposal. As a result, our Pitch was clear, concise, and well-received by the judges, which made for a satisfying conclusion to a full week of effort.

George: The feedback that we received from the industry judges was positive and a testament to the hard work that the team had put in during the week, and the years of research that had gone into the technology up to that point.

Why is the Imperial Innovation Challenge such a good practical learning experience and how will you take it forward in your future careers?

George: In the first instance, the Innovation Challenge is a brilliant product development simulation that promotes innovative thinking.

Sophie: The deep tech framework provided a structure to problem-solving in business, which will be a source of inspiration as I navigate complex projects in the future.

This week also underscored the importance of trust within a team—the ability to rely on each other and let everyone contribute their unique strengths to achieve the best outcomes. It is a lesson I will carry forward, not only in my daily collaborations but also when building and leading my own teams.

Bogosi: For me, personally, I am an actuary using my MBA to transition into consulting. So, this experience has been invaluable for my career development, reinforcing my ability to blend analytical rigor with strategic thinking.

George: On another level, the Innovation Challenge has inspired me to focus on the big issues of today. Working on a project that could save millions of lives was amazingly fulfilling. I hope to continue to tackle the big issues that the world faces throughout my career.

The News

It was my dad's birthday. We were just about to cut the birthday cake and I screamed I got in! I am going to London to complete a Full-Time MBA. I am going to be joining Imperial Business School. That's the moment I knew my life was going to change. Throughout the application process, it was a possibility but now it was happening. I was finally fulfilling my London dream.

The next few months were exactly how you would imagine them to be – very busy. The visa application, the nervous moment when I opened my passport to see if I had received the visa, the endless nights of hustle trying to get my new home in London, and a few trips with close friends and family.

Butterflies

The day was here. I was all packed, super excited and not nervous but super anxious with Butterflies in my tummy. I remember my family telling me to enjoy this next year; just soak in the experience and not put any pressure on a job/visa or sponsorship. My brother drove myself and my parents to the airport and my cousins and my best friends were all there, waving at me as I departed. Hours later, I landed in London. As I stepped into my mews apartment in Kensington, I felt proud of myself.

Day 0

Dressed in my powder pink suit, I walked through the cobbled street to my first day at Imperial Business School. The next two weeks were a busy and exciting ride as we had an amazing induction planned for us. From the Welcome day at Saatchi Gallery to the adventure team-building trip to Reading – the school and the programme team made sure that I got to know my diverse cohort, that represents 30 nationalities extremely well.

To be honest, I was overwhelmed as I realised it was not just the Business School but the entire university including Royal Colleges and Global Challenge Institutes that I had access to! The induction week introduced me to the endless opportunities and networking available within the Imperial Realm.

By the end of induction, the Business School felt like home. The routine was set, and we went straight into our curriculum. We were thoughtfully split into our diverse study groups to make the most of our peers here at the Business School. The classes had begun, from Business Analytics to my favourite Innovation and Entrepreneurship module – it was all happening and so fast!

To make the most of my time here, I also applied to be a part of the career clubs at the Business School. Being a fintech professional and tech enthusiast, I wanted to be a core part of the Finance Career Club. In a week I was the Head of fintech for the Business School and I was already planning my first event for the Autumn term. While navigating through this new student life, I was also making sure I get the complete essence of living in London! From visiting Richmond Park, and Hampstead Heath to the London markets and South Bank – every weekend I tried to get out and explore the city before the chilly and cozy winters began!

Missings

As weeks passed, Diwali was here. Diwali is one of India's largest festivals celebrated across the globe. It's a festival of lights, a festival to be with your family at home! But this Diwali I was in my new home, London with my new family. But to my pleasant surprise, I missed my family a little less than I imagined, this was thanks to the boat party that our social heads arranged. Dressed in traditional Indian outfits while on the banks of the Thames, we all danced and grooved to Bollywood music all night.

Just when I thought my learning curve was steep enough, it was time for the Imperial Innovation Challenge (IIC). It was going to be held at Scale Space which is a part of the Imperial's White city campus. Scale Space is a very interesting state-of-the-art facility built in collaboration with Blenheim Chalcot. It's not just a co-working space but a community for start-ups to incubate, innovate, grow and scale. As a part of the IIC, we were assigned a team and each team had to work on a complex technology that is still in ideation/design or testing. Within 10 days of not knowing what solar fuels are to my first MIRO board, I pitched to a panel of investors an alternate use of the technology of solar fuel with my five-member team.

With October ending on this note, November started with more than a dozen deadlines and events to look forward to! While trying to sail through the weeks of deadlines and submissions, one particular project that stood out for me was the strategy group project. It was the perfect example of working in ambiguity and under time pressure. As a team, we picked up the video gaming industry to analyse (none of us in the team had direct experience in), and in a week I knew so much about that industry including the top three US publishers and their strategic competence. I also conducted my first fintech panel as a host, themed - Purpose Driven Fintech. What made this term even more special was my first interview experience, I got shortlisted for one of the top entertainment companies in the world and had the opportunity to interview with them while hustling through the course.

Well, I cannot write this blog without the word 'networking'. Though I have been meeting new people every day since I stepped foot in London, the Full-Time MBA also introduced me to speed networking! In the first week of December, the careers team organised an MBA cross-cohort speed networking event - the MBA World Café. It was a wonderful experience to get introduced to Alumni/Weekend and Global MBAs in 10-minute round table sessions. What made the event even more special was that I was covering it live on Imperial Business School's Instagram as a content creator. In the same week, we also had the MBA winter party – a small celebration of the Autumn term with some mulled wine and Christmas cheer.

16 December 2022

Day 100

And the day was here, after strenuous two weeks of studying, the social leads planned a Secret Santa Soiree for the class at a fancy venue where we exchanged gifts, laughed all night, reflecting over the term while sipping on Christmas cocktails.

Looking forward to the next 9 months

While that was the Autumn term at Imperial Business School in 2022, there is so much that I'm looking forward to in 2023. Amongst the zillion things that I am yet to experience in the spring and summer terms, the things I look forward to most in the next 9 months:
